We are always looking for good people! We accept applications anytime, and sometimes hire employees in the summer and fall. However, we hire the majority of our employees for the busy spring season.

Sales Associate

The Sales Associate provides garden center customer service, as well as assists with plant maintenance and merchandising.

Required Skills and Experience

● High school graduate, or the equivalent. Horticulture or Landscape Design degree, training, or previous green industry experience is a big plus.
● Strong in the sales skills of active listening, information gathering, and problem solving.
● Computer literate, especially with using a point of sale cash register.
● No fear of labor-intensive work in the outdoors, with the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
● Flexibility in maneuvering a fast-paced day while balancing customer, maintenance, and merchandising needs.
● A life passion for horticulture industry, hard work, and enjoying the results!

Compensation

Pay range: $8.50 -$18 hour

Retail work hours when the Garden Center is open, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
● A part time, full time, or temporary seasonal position that ebbs + flows with the demands of the seasons.

● Paid time off is available to eligible employees who work 1,000+ hours per calendar year. Group health insurance and retirement plan available.

Produce Sales & Agritourism Coordinator

The Produce Sales & Agritourism Coordinator provides both garden center and off-site farm market customer service, as well as oversees produce display merchandising. The Coordinator also schedules and oversees agritourism events in collaboration with the Marketing Director, such as pick-your-own, the fall festival, and farm to table dinners.

Required Skills and Experience

● High school graduate, or the equivalent. Agriculture or Horticulture degree, training, or previous farm experience is a big plus.
●Ability to drive a tractor for use in farming operations, as well as to transport customers using a large wagon during agritourism events.

● Computer literate, especially with using a point of sale cash register.
● No fear of labor-intensive work in the outdoors, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
● Flexibility in maneuvering a fast-paced day while balancing customer, maintenance, and merchandising needs.

Compensation

Pay range: $12.00 -$18 hour

Retail and farm market work hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Landscape Designer

The Landscape Designer organizes and creates exterior spaces using plant materials and hardscape elements. The Designer works closely with clients from initial contact, site evaluation, closing the sale, to project completion.

Required Education, Skills and Experience

A Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Design, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, or other related area.

Expertise in horticulture understanding and plant identification.

Thorough knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools and equipment utilized in landscape work.

Ability to perform a thorough site analysis to determine current vegetation, grading, and environmental factors.

Sales and marketing experience.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Landscape Team and clients.

Compensation
Salary range $30,000 - $45,000, plus commission.

Landscape Foreman

Love working outdoors and creating beautiful landscapes? Looking for an opportunity for career growth and to lead your own landscape crew? Then our Landscape Team has a place for you!

The Landscape Foreman is a working supervisor of one or more crews in the planning, organizing and development of plant and hardscape installations at a job site.

Does the following describe you?

  • At least 3+ years of landscape and hardscape experience in a supervisory role.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to be an effective team member, to provide excellent customer service, and to maintain job documentation.
  • Extensive gardening experience with knowledge of perennial and woody plants, as well as landscape/hardscape design concepts and applications.
  • Able to work independently in the comprehension and implementation of a design.
  • Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and maintaining plants in a landscape, gardening tools and equipment, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
Ability to drive a skid steer and dump truck.
Compensation
Pay range: $20 - $25 hour

Landscape Crew Leader

The Landscape Crew Leader directs crew members in daily operations, including quality control, training, punctuality and safety. A seasonal position, March - November, with the possibility of intermittent work December - February.

Required Skills and Experience

At least 3+ years of landscape and hardscape experience.

Verbal and written communication skills to be an effective team member, to provide excellent customer service, and to maintain job documentation.

Thorough knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in landscaping work.

Working knowledge of horticultural practices, annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs.

Ability to assign and supervise the work of others, provide instruction and leadership.

Ability to drive a skid steer and dump truck.

Compensation

Pay range: $16 - $19 hour

Landscape Crew

The Landscape Crew Member works with the Landscape Team to implement landscape and hardscape designs, as well as landscape maintenance work.

Required Skills and Experience

Previous landscaping background essential. Basic horticulture knowledge and understanding required.

PA Drivers License

Thorough knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in landscaping work.

Working knowledge of horticultural practices, annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs.

Ability to drive a skid steer and dump truck.

Compensation

Pay range: $14 -$16 hour

Landscape Crewmember - Temporary

Temporary, full-time 4/1/19 - 11/1/19. Six positions available for job sites in Allegheny & Washington counties. Use hand/power tools and equipment. Lay sod, mow, trim, plant, water, fertilize, dig, rake, install mortarless segmental masonry wall units. Three months previous landscape experience required. Lift/carry 75 lbs, when necessary. Background check required. Mustt possess or obtain U.S. drivers license within 30 days of hire. 40 hr/week 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM M-F. Saturday work required when necessary. Wage is no less than $13.77/hr (OT varies @ $20.39/hr). Raise/bonus at employers discretion. Transportation (including meals &, as necessary, lodging) to place of employment provided or paid to workers residing outside normal commute distance by copleteion of 50% of job period. Return transport provided or paid to same workers if worker completes job period or is dismissed early. Workers are guaranteed offer of 3/4 of work hours each 12-week period. Tools, supplies, equipment, & uniform and daily transportation to/from workshite from central location provided at no cost. Potential deduct for advances and/or reasonable cost of lodging may apply. Employer may assist to secure worker paid lodging if needed. Employer provides incidental transport between job sites. Interview required.
